We miss knowing the little things. A photo from a friend's day. A thought they wanted to share. Something that made them laugh.
Keeping in touch can become a performance when every moment has an audience. But the moments that help us feel close are often ordinary: the view from a walk, coffee before work, a small thing that reminded you of someone.
We built haelo to make room for those moments. A quieter messenger for people you already know, without a public feed or follower counts. A place to ask, listen, and answer in your own time.
one small idea. built together.
It began with Michael Degn's idea for an app where you could ask someone for a photo or a message. Something small. A way to hear from each other.
Michael and Simon Wozniak developed that idea into haelo together. At its heart is the Hint: a small act of attention that says, “I'm thinking of you. I'd like to hear from you.”
Our shared starting point was the feeling of being remembered, being asked, and having room to reply. We wanted to build around the people you want to hear from, and the life you are already living.
the beauty of being asked.
There is something different about a friend asking to see your day. The same unremarkable photo can mean more because someone wanted to hear from you.
When someone crosses your mind, send a Hint. They can answer with a thought, a photo, or a video when they have a moment. It can become a conversation, or simply a small exchange that brings you closer to each other's day.
A Hint is an invitation. It doesn't need a polished update in return. The everyday is enough.
friendships find their own rhythm.
Friendships change with the seasons of our lives. Some people are close by. Others live far away, keep different hours, or have busy weeks. We think keeping in touch should have space for that.
Your circle in haelo is made of people you choose to connect with. There are no follower counts to grow and no public feed to keep up with. A Huddle gives a chosen group a place to share, too.
The point is not to turn every friendship into another task. It is to make a small gesture of attention easier when someone comes to mind.
presence, without pressure.
A notification should feel like an invitation, not a demand for your immediate attention. That is the intention behind a Hint.
You can reply when it works for you, or leave a Hint unanswered. A candid photo or a few words can be enough. You don't need a special occasion, a finished story, or an explanation for having been busy.
We want keeping in touch to leave room for living. Less feed. More life.
designed to leave a little space.
With roots in Copenhagen, haelo takes inspiration from Scandinavian simplicity: warm light, quiet colors, and room around the things that matter.
That design follows the same intention as the app itself. Fewer public numbers to watch. More attention to the person you came to hear from. Ordinary moments can stay ordinary, and still mean something.
We are building haelo around this idea together. If it resonates with you, bring a friend and make it part of your own rhythm.
